APPENDIX B

Terms associated with the analytic–holistic distinction

Appendix B helps to clarify information presented in Chapters 9 and 10 of Misaligned Minds.

On its first page, it contrasts five pairs of mirror-image terms closely associated with scholarly research into analysis and holism (e.g., low-context – high context). Each pair includes a brief explanation of both terms.

Then on its second page, Appendix B contrasts seventeen pairs of mirror-image terms loosely associated with analysis and holism, some arising from academic fields (e.g., quantitative – qualitative), others drawn from everyday conversation (e.g., logical – intuitive).
